Lecturer - EDMX 627: Assessment for Planning and Instruction (Fall 2026) San Marcos
The School of Education at California State University San Marcos invites applications for instructors to teach EDMX 627: Assessment, Planning and Instruction in Special Education in Fall 2026. The course meets on Wednesday evening from 5:30-8:20 p.m. and is an in-person, lecture-based course. The candidate should have experience in teaching Mild to Moderate Support Needs and Extensive Support Needs in TK-12 setting, as well as extensive experience with both formal and informal special education academic achievement assessments, assessment report writing, Individual Education Program (IEP) development, and instructional planning. A master’s degree is the minimum requirement for this position. Preferred requirements for the position include: a Ph.D. or equivalent and Clear Education Specialist Credential(s).

The course focuses on the points of cultural intersections between Indigenous American peoples and non-Indigenous populations in the construction and establishment of the nation, from pre-contact to the present day, with a special emphasis on Indigenous sources in order to examine American History through Indigenous perspectives. Takes a chronological approach while also critically examining themes that have shaped American History.

Covers land and sovereignty, colonization and decolonization, U.S. governmental policy and cultural genocide, civil rights and activism, missing and murdered Indigenous women, stereotypes and appropriation, and identity.
