Lecturer - PH 333: Public Health Communication and Interventions (Fall 2026) San Marcos
The Department of Public Health at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PH 333: Public Health Communication and Interventions. The course is a 3-unit class taught over the course of the semester. This course provides foundational knowledge on public health communication, related theory, strategies, and application to planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health communication interventions. It explores the use of mass media and digital technology to influence diverse audiences and stakeholders and emphasizes strategic community-based partnerships, cultural influences on messaging, and communication models that are responsive to context and situation of the public health-specific communication needs.
Lecturer - PH 303: Social, Behavioral, and Community Health (Fall 2026) San Marcos
The Department of Public Health at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PH 303: Social, Behavioral, and Community Health. The course is a 3-unit class taught over the course of the semester which introduces current issues in health from a social science and behavioral perspective. It defines and explores health determinants using an ecological approach, and identifies multilevel influences, risk factors, and health prevention/promotion strategies. PH 303 provides a foundational understanding of public health concepts, tools, approaches and a critical examination of health and disease within populations.

The Department of Art, Media, and Design at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for fall semester 2026 to teach AMD 409 Advanced Graphic Design and Visual Media. This is an upper division studio course that meets on Thursdays, 1-4:50 PM. Successful candidates will demonstrate a rich and varied background in graphic design and related media. The course investigates a broad range of contemporary artists who use digital media for visual communication and graphic design. Students explore a broad range of perspectives and experiment with different conceptual approaches working with emerging digital media trends and technologies. The course includes lectures, screenings, discussions, readings, and a series of visual communication and design projects to examine visual hierarchies for text and image, color, typography, page layout and optimization of visual communication.
Lecturer - MDIA 304: Global Media (Fall 2026) San Marcos
The Department of Communication and Media Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach MDIA 304 - Global Media. The course is an exploration of “globalization” as an historical - as well as a contested - process, and of cultural, social, technological economic, and political processes at work in “media globalization.” Case studies link discussions of specific forms (i.e., music, radio, video, journalism, internet, mobile phones, broadcast satellites, and points of origin) to old and new audiences. These case studies are contextualized in a consideration of specific communication processes associated with trade, war, community development, policy making and reform, and privatization/deregulation.
