Position Description

Job Overview

Under the general direction of the Dean of Students and the day-to-day supervision of the Associate Dean of Students, the Director of Student Conduct & Ethical Development serves as the university’s primary administrator for student conduct matters and provides leadership for the Student Conduct & Ethical Development area. The Director manages and administers student conduct cases and related processes, including reviewing alleged violations, conducting administrative fact-finding, meeting with students and other involved parties, facilitating resolution agreements, assigning educational and disciplinary outcomes, and monitoring completion of sanctions and other requirements.

The Director provides leadership and oversight for campus student conduct operations and coordinates responses to complex student behavioral concerns in collaboration with campus partners, including Cougar Care Network, CARE Team, Title IX/DHR, Residential Education, Student Leadership and Involvement Center, the Clery Office, and University Police. The Director ensures timely, equitable, and consistent application of university procedures and supports students in navigating processes in a manner that upholds student rights, due process, accountability, and opportunities for growth and learning.

The Director develops and delivers training, outreach, and educational programming regarding student rights, responsibilities, ethical decision-making, and university processes. The Director provides students, faculty, staff, and families with information about available options, resources, and procedural expectations and works collaboratively across divisions and with external partners to support student accountability, growth, and ethical development, promote community standards, and contribute to a safe and respectful learning environment consistent with the educational mission of the university.

This is a full-time, exempt position in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP). MPP positions serve at the pleasure of the President.

Pay, Benefits, and Work Schedule

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $8,334 - $9,167 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,135 - $12,288 per month

Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year; 14 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
