This course explores the social construction and performances of the body and identity through a cross-cultural look at definitions and meanings of the body, codes inscribed on it by our everyday practices (wearing makeup, working out), and choices of decorative markers (clothing, jewelry, tattoos, piercings). How are gender, race, ethnicity, and power status signaled by the body? How is rebellion enacted through the body? Anthropological perspectives are used to explore how people approach these issues across cultural, economic, political, social, and religious contexts.

This course explores methods of creative development for invention and moves from concept to visual design to creation. The S&L Campus Lead Faculty aids the Associate Director of S&L Operations to coordinate SoN simulation & laboratory activities at their campus. They collaborate with their counterpart at the other campus to ensure all policies are supported, and instructional and administrative procedures are conducted consistently between sites. They manage the S&L as a learning environment which supports student attainment of course competencies. Workdays vary depending on the SoN courses’ and laboratory schedule. This is a part-time position for 3 to 4 days per week depending on the schedule or courses.
