
Job Summary:
Laborers perform general, unskilled manual labor, including moving and delivering heavy objects, and carry out maintenance activities in support of department objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform CRV recycling duties by gathering bottles, cans, ink cartridges, and other items from designated indoor and outdoor areas to support campus sustainability efforts.
• Transport recyclable to the main campus recycling station, sort materials accordingly, and secure recyclables in the appropriate area.
• Weigh and record data on the appropriate form and/or the WebTMA computerized maintenance management system.
• Remove and haul waste and recyclables from central aggregation points, special events, and designated clean-up sites to maintain a clean and safe campus environment.
• Move and transport heavy objects such as furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies; assist in campus event set-up; Load and unload furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials to designated areas; operate a motor vehicle or electric cart to transport and deliver items, supplies, and/or materials.
• Assist trades, crafts, and construction workers by performing unskilled tasks including but not limited to rough repair work, pick and shovel work, debris removal, dismantling of structures, and general support to maintenance staff.
• Assist in grounds maintenance by blowing hard surfaces, performing pressure washing tasks, conducting weed abatement, cultivating planters, and removing undergrowth and debris using powered equipment and/or landscape tools.
• Clean and maintain outdoor infrastructures including drains, gutters, culverts, roadsides, and parking structures. Perform basic preventive maintenance on powered equipment and tools.
• Performs custodial tasks by emptying receptacles, clean/sanitizing bathrooms, complete floor care, dusting, and other tasks in support of the custodial department.
• Perform additional cleaning assignments such as pressure washing and window cleaning to support custodial operations as needed.
• Transport recyclables to the campus recycling and transfer center; document and deliver collected recycling proceeds to the CSUSB finance office.
• Perform monthly utility meter reads.
• Perform basic record keeping and clerical tasks.
• Other classification related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; perform regular strenuous manual labor; safely move heavy items in excess of 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic record keeping skills.
- Ability to use a computer or portable device.
Compensation and Benefits:
Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,680.00 - $3755.00 mo.
Classification Salary Range: $3, 680.00 - $5, 955.00 mo.
The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.

Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Drivers License Check
Possession of a valid Driver's License is required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
Physical Exam
Employment is contingent upon candidate passing a pre-employment physical exam with the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
Mandated Reporter
The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Campus Security Authority
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) position under the federal Jeanne Cleary Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. CSAs are responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act Crimes reported to them or that they witness. CSA training is required.
