California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Marketing within the College of Business Administration (CoBA). Candidates with expertise in areas such as digital marketing, consumer behavior, or marketing analytics are especially encouraged to apply, though exceptional applicants who have expertise in sales and strategy will be given preference in the consideration process. Minimum qualifications 

  • Ph.D. in marketing or a related field prior to date of appointment (ABD applicants accepted; PhD Confirmation required by hire date).  

  • Candidates must demonstrate teaching excellence, a record of quality published research commensurate with years of experience, and the ability to develop and sustain a research program that will lead to original, peer-reviewed publications.  

  • Candidates must also demonstrate meaningful contributions in one or more the following areas: departmental service, participation in university-level initiatives and active engagement in the academic community.  

  • Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with departmental colleagues and an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. 

 

Desired/preferred qualifications:  

  • Preference will be given to applicants with business experience and/or teaching experience in digital marketing, consumer behavior, marketing analytics, marketing strategy and sales.  

  • Preference will also be given to applicants with demonstrated intercultural competence with distinct groups in teaching, research and/or service.   

Duties: The successful candidate will develop and teach courses in their respective fields, including one or more core undergraduate courses: Foundations of Marketing, Marketing Research, Consumer Behavior and one or more electives including: Digital Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Marketing Analytics, and Sales. The successful candidate will also develop and teach Master of Science and/or MBA-level courses. In addition to teaching, the candidate is expected to maintain an active research agenda. This includes producing high-quality, peer-reviewed publications that contribute to the advancement of their field. Publications are a determining factor for eligibility for competitive research grants after the initial period of guaranteed research support and play a critical role in promotion and tenure decisions. Service commensurate with experience is expected and may include: participating in committees, contributing to accreditation and assessment efforts, engaging with professional organizations, serving as department chair, and supporting community or industry partnerships that advance the mission of the department and university.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $12,000 - $12,594 per month 

CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,221- $13,224 per month
